Module 04 - Case Assignment

Context

We will now consider a context that is becoming increasingly prevalent - yet, has not gained much attention in the research literature -  the medium of educational leadership.

This context forms the basis of Your Task to the next case assignment...

Your Task

Prepare a report / essay in 3-5 page paper that either supports or refutes the arguments made by Beaudoin in his commentary essay -  Distance education leadership: An essential role for a new century.

Importantly, your report / essay is to -

  1. Synthesize the argument(s) presented in Beaudoin’s article.

  2. Draw from the scholarly literature (2-3 peer-reviewed articles) to critically analyze the arguments made by Beaudin. In particular;

    • To what extent and in what manner does the existing literature on leadership pertain explicitly to leadership in a distance education setting?

    • To what extent and in what manner does the existing literature on leadership pertain implicitly to leadership in a distance education setting?

  3. Lastly, based on the existing research, conclude your report / essay with your insightful speculations / thoughts toward questions and/or topics in this area that call for future empirical research.

Expectations

  1. The content of your report is to demonstrate your grasp of the concepts, insights, and issues presented in the assigned readings.

  2. The structure of your report is to demonstrate your ability to analyze- NOT simply summarize - the information presented in the assigned readings.

  3. All points and assertions made should be supported with scholarly references.

  4. General format / mechanics

  • Approximately 3-5 pages in length including a reference list;

  • Additional studies / articles appropriately cited and referenced;

  • Organized in a clear and coherent  manner;

  • APA formatted
