Modular Overview

In this module we will discuss standards for the quality of conclusions, and related issues such as objectivity/confirmablity, reliability/dependability and internal/external validity.

Module learning objectives:

By the end of this module you should be able to:

1. Use the standards for evaluating qualitative research to review a qualitative research article; (case assignment)
2. Define and analyze an ethical issue in qualitative research; (TD)
3. Do independent research about a theoretical or methodological issue in qualitative research (SLP)
4. Discuss what are the similarities between qualitative and quantitative research methods (TD);
5. TD forum: Consider your own postings (in module one) about how qualitative research fits into your own philosophy of research. Based on an overview of the course content, discuss how qualitative research fits into your own philosophy of research at this time (module 5). Identify some assumptions that may have changed (also state if none have changed) and some assumptions that remained the same (also state if none remained the same.)
